Selen Ercan received her Bachelor of Architecture degree at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara and since 2008 she has been a member of the Chamber of Architects, Section of UIA in Turkey. Following her graduation, she got accepted to the international joint M.Sc. program on Computational Design and Fabrication Technologies in Architecture offered by METU and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) where she studied Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences, specialized in Computational Design and Fabrication Technologies in Architecture, Architecture Track (Ir.). She conducted her master thesis study on Mass Customizing the Relations of Design Constraints for Designer-Built Computational Models. From 2011 to 2013 Selen worked in various projects at the Chair of Architecture and Digital Fabrication at the ETH Zurich including ECHORD (European Clearing House for Open Robotics Development under the European Unions FP-7 Research Program) dimROB which focused on applying mobile robots for in-situ robotic fabrication in construction. In dimROB she was involved in the research of mobile robotic fabrication of complex building elements on construction sites and explored 1:1 scale robotic fabrication of building elements. Since June 2013, she has been working as a research assistant at the SEC-FCL Singapore / Modul II, at the Chair of Architecture and Digital Fabrication (Prof. Fabio Gramazio and Prof. Matthias Kohler) at the ETH Zurich leading the mobile robotic tiling project.
