Seminar Week SS18
|
Karl May famously wrote about adventures abroad
without having ever been to any of these places.
It did not work against the popularity of his books.
His imagination and writing was powerful enough
to make his adventures an enjoyable reading.
Today, we may ask: Is the digital a reality, is it
fiction, or science- fiction? Does it have a history
and can it be subject to a new form of archeology?
All doubts aside, the digital provides for
mighty tools of worldmaking.
At Gramazio Kohler Research we continue our
series of explorations of the digital world and
how this world comes into being through means
of computational design and digital fabrication.
Together with the architecture historian Mario
Carpo (the Bartlett, UCL) we dedicate the seminar week
to digital worldmaking in architecture, its history,
reality and future.
