Lauren Vasey is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Gramazio Kohler Research (GKR), with a focus in on site digital fabrication and robotics, and in the NCCR Digital Fabrication within the stream “Construction Robotics.”
From 2014 to 2019, she was a Research Associate and Doctoral Candidate at the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) at the University of Stuttgart, where she was heavily involved in the development of the ITECH masters program, and the development of many of the award winning ICD/ITKE Research Pavilions. Her research and dissertation focused on developing cyber-physical, feedback-driven robotic construction processes, investigating new forms of networked, multi-robot and human-robot collaborative processes and their potentials in architecture and construction.
Her teaching and research have been recognized in many international competitions including the Kuka Innovation Award and AEC Hackathons. She has extensive experience collaborating with external research partners including Autodesk Research and recently the European Space Agency. Since 2016, Lauren is also an elected member of the Board of Directors of ACADIA, the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture in North America. Previously, she received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Tufts University, cum laude, and a Masters of Architecture from the University of Michigan, with distinction.
